The founders of two local companies revealed how innovative decision making helped to maintain business success. Guest interviewees were Ken Grundy, Chairman of Hello Telecom (UK) Ltd and Chris Holmes, Managing Director of Tynmill pub group and Nottingham's Castle Rock Brewery.
Hello is a telecoms solutions provider exclusively tailored to the needs of business and offering the latest technology in VoIP. In the fast moving world of business communications founding Chairman, Ken Grundy, is at the peak of his career.
However, his career changed significantly in the 1990s following many years spent in property development. A chartered surveyor by profession, Ken lost over £10 million from his property investment portfolio.
Chris Holmes was a former lecturer at the then Trent Polytechnic when he quit the educational world in the 1970s to strike out with a new venture and own a pub that he’d like to drink in himself. Chris went on to found the successful pub group and brewery.
Expanding a business based on strong principles and ensuring that it maintains its unique character along the way has presented numerous challenges for Chris.
In advance of the main session the evening commenced with a presentation by Paul Fileman, a partner of Strategic Planning Solutions, who outlined how to introduce innovation to conservative customers.
