This session focused on two women entrepreneurs and their different approaches to bringing their products to market.  Our guest speakers were Judy Naake, Life Time President of St Tropez and Tiny Deol, Founder and Managing Director of Curryslim.

A market leader in the beauty sector, St Tropez is a self tanning range loved by celebrities.  The treatment is offered in over 6,500 beauty salons across the country and readily available in most department stores.  Judy created a huge business empire after following her instinct to bring the lotion over to the UK from the States.  She took on the UK and European distribution and initially sold the products to beauty salons from the back of her car.  The brand finally took off in the late 1990s when it began to be featured in high fashion magazines.

Curryslim products provide a healthier option to curry lovers who enjoy authentic Indian cuisine whilst keeping their waist line in check.  Promoted as the world’s first cholesterol free Indian curry range with no added fat, Curryslim started modestly with an advisory website offering advice and recipes and which now sells a range of cooking sauces online and through the QVC shopping channel.  Tiny’s inspiration to create Curryslim came from her desire to lose weight following the birth of her children.  She found diet food bland and tasteless and missed Indian food so decided to develop her own range based on her knowledge of nutrition and experimenting on friends and family.
